First let me say that I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed reading this book a lot, that was shown by the speed in which i zipped through it. *Mild Spoilers possibly* It's about a girl who finds out that she has special powers and who is not wholly of this world. Tabitha's mother disappeared twice that she knows of, once twenty-two years ago when she was gone for four years and and the second time during this story. She and her sister never told Tabitha where her mom went or what happened to her. Nor did they say that she was anything but a normal teenage girl. She learns different in the course of the story and learns that her mysterious unknown father is more then she thought he was and that he lived in another world. This is a sort of coming of age type book where Tabitha learns a bit about where she is from and what she is.
The book has excellent flow and was easy to read, few to no grammar issues were noted. The characters where well described and fleshed out. All in all a delightful read.
This one was pretty good. I enjoyed the premise but thought that the pacing was a bit off at some points. I would have also like a bit more explanation of the magic and why Tabitha had all these extra abilities. I thought it would have given us a little bit more in terms of explanations but there wasn't a whole lot of that. I really needed more understanding of the magic and that just wasn't given. It was said that some people can do some things and others could do others; it was also talked about how there was training given and that Tabitha would be trained but that was never done.
It just seemed like the main plot and arc of this one wasn't all that developed. But I did really like Tabitha and Luc. I just feel like the idea that *maybe* Luc and Tabitha being brother and sister was quickly brushed over. I think it is a plot point that has been over done tbh and I hope that is something that gets cleared up right away.
I wish there was more to this than there was. I might check out the rest of the series just to see if there is more explanation and world building but I am not jumping to get the next book.

I loved reading Tara Winters debut novel Dark Hollow! Her writing draws you in, and you simply have to turn the pages to discover what happens next in this magical tale.
I cannot wait to read the next book!
