Having already read MATEGUAS ISLAND, I was intrigued to read this brief prequel to the novel. The story basically outlines in detail the two years prior to Bill and Karen's move to the island. As in Mateguas, the characters leap off the page at you and tug at your heartstrings. And, there are surprises.Watkins knows how to write and how to involve the reader in her characters' lives. Another outstanding read.

I read this series as one book and will share this review on the individual books too.
This is a story filled with mystery and Native American folklore.
This story is well written with a steady build up to a suspense filled finale.
You get to know the characters really well, well enough to either love them or hate them.
Either way they pull you right into the middle of the story with them.
You will shout out, laugh, and cry with the characters.
A very well earned 5* for Linda Watkins.
I look forward to reading more of her work.
This is a prequel to the book Mateguas Island A Novel of Terror and Suspense. It helps to read this before Mateguas Island that lists as Book 1 in the series.
This was a great, quick introduction to the main characters in the series. After I started reading, it was hard to put down until I was done. Then, I immediately started the second book.

Author Linda Watkins writes a fast-paced, compelling prequel to her outstanding ‘Matequas Island’ series. Will Bill and Karen be able to rebuild their lives on this tiny mysterious island in Maine? Readers will want to read the next two books in this wonderful series to find out.

Unbelievable! This was, at best, a short story, which should NEVER have been advertised as a novel and cost $2.99! This should not be called "book" 1. If the next is equally short I will be really angry!
This is a prequel to Mateguas Island, and introduces the characters of that novel. However, it stands alone as a well-written and intriguing story.
I enjoyed this book.it was a short background story for the next book called Matthias island.I liked the story line so far.can't wait for the next book to be released.it will be interesting to see how the secrets play out.
Perfect prelude to what is the beginning to an awesome series!! Can’t wait to start the next book on the series!!
